Contrary to her on-screen debut, Jiah Khan is much more subdued, sensible and a little less rebellious than her on-screen persona. Born in New York and brought up in London, Jiah knew she wanted to be an actress from the day she was three and hence destiny decided that Bollywood was where she was meant to be.
During her summer holidays while studying at the Lee Strasberg Institute, a leading institute in the field of theater, she came to India to interview directors whom she admired, and of course Ram Gopal Varma was on top of her list, as one of the first Hindi films she had ever seen was Rangeela. In true Bollywood style, little did Jiah know that before the interview was over, her interviewee would offer her the lead role in his next film opposite the biggest star of Hindi cinema, Amitabh Bachchan.
Having debuted at the young age of 19, Jiah Khan is here for the long haul as a part of Bollywood's new age cinema.
