She's vivacious but has no qualms about it. She's has made her debut in one of the leading director's films but that does not create an uproar. She's simple yet elegant; she's one of the lovely ladies who have left modelling for films and is here to stay for a long, long time to come. Meet Kim Sharma, one of the six debutants in Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein.
Kim was born in Ahmednagar and did her schooling from a boarding school in Panchgani. After that she returned to her hometown and joined a junior college but hated her college. 'Having studied in a boarding school, where most of the girls were from aboard, living and studying in Ahmednagar came as a culture shock', quips Kim. So while in her twelfth, she decided to call it quits. On a trip to Mumbai, she went through an audition for Close-Up toothpaste and as destiny would have it, was selected too. After the Close-Up commercial, many others followed like Sunsilk, Pepsi, Tata Safari, Ponds, Fair & Lovely, Clean-n-Clear and Liril.
Modelling was not the only thing Kim indulged in. she also tried her hand at music videos like Lata Mangeshkar's 'Paayoji' and Ali Haider's 'Purani Jeans'. She was quite content with the way life was going on for her. But as luck would have it, Mohabbatein happened and changed the course of her life. Before she could bat an eyelid, she was selected as one of the three heroines by the taskmaster Aditya Chopra. Before they started shooting for Mohabbatein, the three young couples in the film (Kim-Jugal Hansraj, Shamita Shetty-Uday Chopra & Jimmy Shergill-Preeti Jhangiani) had to go through a 15-day workshop with Barry John in Delhi. They had to slog it out from morning to evening to learn the subtle nuances of acting. After that she had to attend dance classes as well. As of now, Kim has been saying no to all her modelling assignments. Its going to be films and more films for her. She wants to prove her ability as an actress without resorting to arty films.
