A couple of insignificant movies like 'Abodh' and 'Swati ' and critics wrote off this diva without a flitch. More movies of the like came with 'Uttar Dakshin', 'Wardi' and 'Khatro Ke Khiladi' but it was with 'Tezaab' and 'Ram Lakhan', that the country sat up and took notice of this young woman who was going to change the course of things to come on Indian Cinema.
None other than Madhuri Dixit, she went on to become the Nation's favorite with some of the biggest hits of the 90's. Together with Anil Kapoor, she gave some of her most memorable performances with 'Parinda', 'Jeevan Ek Sangarsh', 'Jamai Raja', 'Beta' and 'Zindagi Ek Jua'. Equally popular with her other costars, Madhuri has survived in the industry and has had the opportunity to romance not just Vinod Khanna in Dayavan' but even his son (Akshaye Khanna) when he came of age with "Mohabbat'.
A couple of bloopers came along the way with "Anjaam', Prem Granth and "Rajkumar'. But taking it all in her stride she went on give further hits with 'Dil', 'Raja' and 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' and 'Dil To Pagal Hai'.
Then came the highly acclaimed Devdas in 2002, where she created magic with her timeless role of Chandramukhi, the prostitute who falls in love with Devdas (Shahrukh Khan).
Married and settled abroad with two children today, Madhuri's forthcoming movies include Somnath Sen's untitled venture and Engineer.
