Naseeruddin Shah

As a school boy Nasseruddin Shah was so impressed with Geoffrey Kendall's theatre group, that while he was still in school he joined the Pune Film Institute. He was noticed by director Shyam Benegal who offered him a role in his upcoming film Nishaant. So impressed was Shyam Bengal with Nasseruddin Shah that he landed roles in most of his succeeding films.

Nasseruddin Shah got his big break with the movie Junoon in 1978 which he followed up with Aakrosh in 1980. A string of successes in both mainstream and alternative cinema followed with as Masoom, Khandan, Paar, Katha, Pestonjee, Tridev, Mohra, & Vishwatma.

Some of his recent successes include the internationally acclaimed Monsoon Wedding, Sarfarosh and Iqbal, where he plays the role of Mohit, a washed up fast bowler.

His upcoming films include Valley of Flowers, Parzania & Ek Dhun Banaras Kee.
