Priyanka Chopra never dreamt that it was going to be movies for her one day. For someone who had once dreamt of becoming a software engineer or a criminal psychologist at the best, has come a long way today.
Priyanka Chopra, Miss World 2000, is today among the top stars in Bollywood. And, going by the film offers she has bagged of late, she seems to be all set to rule Bollywood in the days to come!
But even before Bollywood started contemplating on casting her, the south opened up the gates of the celluloid world for her. Though her debut Tamil film "Tamizhan", with Vijay, bombed, with "The Hero" with Sunny Deol and "Andaaz" with Akshay Kumar, Priyanka's entry to Bollywood did not go unnoticed.
And today, is she is the most sought after in Mumbai's tinsel town.
Hailing from an Army family, Priyanka did her education from La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow as a resident student. Then a short stay at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly prepared her for further studies in the US. Life took on a complete change with the Femina Miss India.
This former Miss World has against her name a commendable list of philanthropic activities with which she is associated. During her student days, she became the only Indian in the US to be selected at state level for the National Opus Honour choir and she participated in extensive charity work.
She later joined the CAF and CII in their literacy programme and became their ambassador. Priyanka had also earlier been part of the government-sponsored Polio Eradication Programme as a volunteer.
After "Andaaz" if a movie really caught the fancy of cine-goers and critics alike, then it was Aitbaar, where Priyanka got noticed for the ease with which she carried off the negitive shades to her role. Then came the hugely successful, Bluffmaster with Abhishek Bachchan. Priyanka's forthcoming films include Ek Haseena Ek Deewana, Krrish, Deodhar Gandhi, God Tussi Great Ho, Don, Salaam E Ishq and Utthaan.
