She is a trained ballet dancer, half-British-Jewish, half-Bangladeshi, ex-Channel V icon and now an actress. She's a head-turner all right. She did some sizzling song appearances in the Hindi Khoobsurat and Mani Ratnam's Alai Payuthey. Then she came up next in a full-fledged movie debut, Snip. Surely we are talking here about Sophiya Haque, who has the hobby of turning old clothes into designerwear. Whatever she touches turns gold!
After tasting the bitter-sweet experience of working in a masala Hindi film, Sophiya is all set to do her second film. Right now she is working on a film called Avatar with Aditya Bhattacharya. It stars Lucky Ali. she plays one of the three female characters in the film. she plays his original girlfriend. Lucky Ali plays Lucky Ali and the film features all his music. It's a great story but it is not about Lucky Ali's life. Being a professional ballet dancer, she feels uncomfortable doing Indian dances. But she enjoyed working for Sunhil Sippy and one could actually make out she having fun on the sets. She is getting offers for Hindi films, too, but she is not comfortable with the language and the kind of films being offered to her. That's the reason she's doing professional theatre, especially dance theatre, since she is more comfortable with it.
Recently, she has done a music video with Alka Yagnik. Farah Khan and Sophiya are good friends, and this video was her directorial debut. She just asked Sophiya to come and play 'Cinderella', and she agreed and those who have seen this video will find Sophiya's cool disposition very enchanting.
There will be more of Sophiya in the future as she has decided to stay in Bollywood and do something worthwhile all the time.
