After many ups and downs, a hockey stick proved lucky for Vidya Malavade as she created quite a stir in "Chak De India". Her husband Capt. Arvind Singh Bagga was working as a pilot with Alliance Air. He died when his flight Alliance Air Flight 7412, collided with a building at Patna. This 'Chak De' girl studied law and worked as an air hostess before getting into modeling and acting. She is a trained kathak dancer and can even do the salsa, rumba, fox trot and tap. She is also a grade 1 scuba diver and she believes the world under water is the most beautiful. She loves simplicity and humility. Her mantra is to keep feeling like a fresher and learn things fast so as to emerge victorious at the end. She is a people's person and it helps broaden her perspective because she would meet so many new people all the time. She enjoys doing things that suit her sensitivity.
Before getting into Indian film industry as an actress Vidya Malavade has done many commercials including one with Shahrukh Khan for Santro car. She has also participated in the reality stunt show called 'Fear Factor' where she was eliminated in episode 4.
Vidya started her career in Vikram Bhatt's film "Inteha" in 2003 where she won critical acclaim. She is best known for her portrayal as the Indian Women National Hockey Team Captain and Goalkeeper in "Chak de India". In this film she has to decide between family and the game where after winning the game she won the hearts of her family members. In the year 2008, she played the role of Sanjay Dutt's wife in "Kidnap".
Her forthcoming films for 2009 include "Tum Milo to Sahi" where she is paired opposite Sunil Shetty. She will also be seen in the movie "Striker" which is a story about a carrom player. She is also filming for Higmanshu Dhulia's "Con Flick" with Govinda and movies like "Junction", "Naam" and "Take 2". Having bagged so many films for the year 2009, she sure has some more performances to depict.
