Zakir Hussain the actor will probably never be able to love down the fact that he shares his name with the famous Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain. He began his journey as an actor with theatre at the National School of Drama, after which he migrated to Mumbai and found work in theatre, television and films. His first few roles in TV were for serials like 'Kitty Party', 'Firdaus' and 'Gaatha'. But it was his filmi stint which won him true recognition. It started with a bit role in Sriram Raghavan's 'Ek Hasina Thi' in 2004 and then a bigger role in Ram Gopal Verma's 'Sarkar'. He become a regular in Ramu's productions with a role in films that followed like 'James', 'Shiva', 'Darna Zaroori Hai', 'Contract' and 'Phoonk'. Another director who has repeated him has been Raghavan, in 'Johnny Gaddar', a role which gave him a lot more recognition. The actor has quite a few interesting films on hand like Raj Kumar Santoshi's 'Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani' being one of them.
