Despite mixed reviews, Oscar host Seth MacFarlane has at least one A-Lister on his side: Charlize Theron.

The “Snow White and the Huntsman” actress arrived at the party on The Lot in West Hollywood around midnight and made her way right to the front of the venue. MacFarlane transformed the venue into a gorgeous setting. Clad with white interior, trees, and with a large orchestra on stage, the “Family Guy” creator seemed to keep with the night’s “Old Hollywood” theme.

Theron, 37, sipped on a drink and hung out with a small group of friends at a table near the stage. She appeared to be in great spirits while mingling with MacFarlane for a while, greeting him with a giant hug. Theron also complimented him on a job well done.

On Ben Affleck's to-do list last night: win an Oscar for Best Picture. Check. Deliver humble acceptance speech with a special shout-out to the missus, Jennifer Garner. Check. Launch Instagram account. Check.

Affleck was an early adapter to Twitter by Hollywood standards, joining the social network in June 2012. (Of all the A-list nominees last night, only four actually have Twitter accounts -- movie stars have not taken to social media like TV actors or musical artists.) Now, he's also sharing on Instagram, posting five photos Sunday night and attracting 5,814 followers in the process.

Sure, Ben Affleck showed his appreciation for winning a Best Picture Oscar -- along with George Clooney and Grant Heslov -- but that didn't stop their school-boy giddiness backstage.

"Bingo!" Clooney said jokingly to the swarms of ooh-oohing reporters holding up numbered cards in hopes of being called on to ask the freshly minted Oscar winners a question.

All three winners produced some zingers when asked to review the trajectory of their chances to win:

Holding his Oscar and answering press questions backstage Sunday night, the 55-year-old said, "It's really hard to imagine doing anything after this." He said he can't imagine any historical figures he would want to portray in the future because "I need to have to lie down for a couple of years. No, I can't think of any. I really can't, no."

During his acceptance speech he gave a heartfelt shout out to his wife of more than 15 years, filmmaker Rebecca Miller, indicating she has endured the proverbial drama that comes along with his commitment to his lauded acting roles. "She knew how to handle all of them in their own particular way," he said.

After giving your acceptance speech and leaving the stage, Academy Award winners are funneled into a room where they get peppered with questions from journalists (and “journalists”) from all over the world. These exchanges can be awkward or entertaining, but you’ll find few as charming and laugh-out-loud funny as Jennifer Lawrence’s. Ang Lee was just happy to be at the Oscars this year. And yeah, it's sort of a given that he knows he upset Steven Spielberg, who seemed a shoo-in for the Best Director award.

But it was Lee who came away with the golden guy on Sunday night for directing the supposedly unfilmable "Life of Pi."

"What do you mean what happened?," she said to an inquisitive reporter. "Look at my dress," Lawrence said of her voluminous Dior gown. "I tried to walk up stairs in this dress. That's what happened."
