Shreyas Talpade's DIL DOSTI ETC. releases today. Here he talks about his shooting experience in Delhi and his own college life.

Was DIL DOSTI ETC. the first film for which you shot in Delhi?

Ya, this was the first time I was shooting in Delhi. And that too we chose the right month of May; I will never really forget that shoot (laughs)! I don't know why its in my fate or fortune or there is something about my face that people want me to shoot only in summers in hot places like Bangkok, Delhi and Rajashtan. So eventually I think I will end up shooting only in these places and not in Switzerland and Canada. I think I am made for Rajasthan, Bhuj etc. (laughs)!

When you shot in Hindu college campus, did it remind you of your college days?

Well ya, in fact I still remember that even in real life I had tried contesting the election in college days. And to think of it I wasn't really keen on it. I just signed the form because someone in the drama team asked me if I was interested in fighting an election. I just filled the form, never campaigned and I just went to five class rooms for campaigning. That was it and after that I said that okay I am bored now!

How many votes did he eventually get?

[Laughs] Four, which included one from me. There were three others and no one even knew that I was contesting. During that time I remember that there were a couple of candidates who never threatened me but as friends asked me why was I running for elections? They did say that I will eat up their votes. Even when I assured that hardly anyone knew me, they wanted me to take back my form. That's the point when I snapped and decided that I had to go for it. Though it's a different matter that what I got was mere 4 votes. That was it. That was the end of my political career. Finito!

Coming to the film, any particular sequence that he enjoyed doing most?

Well there are many sequences of mine which I enjoyed doing. There are so many things which I really haven't done before on screen and also people haven't seen me doing. Personally too I felt that let me try doing it because for me I don't really want to get into a particular image or a character. So I really had good fun. Things like threatening someone, getting romantic with a girl in a very awkward way, bonding with one junior whom I am suppose to rag - There is always this uncertainty and a little bit of awkwardness in Sanjay Mishra.

What really is Sanjay Mishra, the character you play?

When he is in his elements, for example, he has to go and shoot someone or hit someone or maybe threatens someone - it's only that time that he is extremely confident and he feels that this is my space and I can really handle it well. These are the interesting little things that I got to work on. So I pretty much enjoyed the whole film.

How about pretty young girl Ishitta?

We just did one song together and there is one small sequence in the film where I and Imaad are walking down the street and she calls us. That's where I talk to her and apart from that Imaad has most of his scenes with her. She is a sweet girl. She is so small and I think she has a pretty good potential. If she is in college, she should finish her education first and then really concentrate on whether she wants to become an actress. She has an ability to improvise and work on her character. There are very few people who come with this understanding.
