How does it feel while shifting from a house where you have seen the most glorious period of your life?

It is a very strange feeling. I t makes me both happy and nostalgic. I hope the new house which I have basically built for my little daughter, Muskaan, is a move blessed by the Almighty and I hope that the new house also blesses me with the new ideas and new ways of finding cusses not only for my self but for the industry as a whole. Change is necessary if we have to change the world. I have tried my best to keep changing and I am whatever I am because of this born attitude and approach to life and my work in me.

It's been more than thirty years as a director. You are the accepted showman of the industry. How does it feel after such a long innings?

I am excited. You cannot be a part of showbiz if you are not in a state of excitement all the time. It is not an exaggeration but I really feel as if I have just started my career. Everyday is a new day, a new life full f challenges to be met. Am thankful to God for giving me all the success. I have achieved. Every time I make a film, I decide to share the most of my life with as many people as possible.

Your company, Mukta Arts, has completed 29 years. What do you feel are your company's achievements?

We at Mukta Arts have always aimed to do our best. Everyone from the spot boy to the head of every department has to be at his best and work to the best of his ability to do nothing but the best. We may have had our ups and downs but that is part of life, that is a way of learning and growing. Learning is like a breathing, the day you stop learning, you are finished, dead, wiped out. Mukta Arts has completed 29 years. We have don a lot but then what we have achieved is like a drop in the ocean. We have to go on swimming because if we stop there is a fear of drowning.

You have talked about your decision to quit films as a director which has come as a very big surprise?

Yes, I have decided to quit as a director but my quitting is going to be done in a planned way. I will complete and release the two films I am directing now. I will then direct just one film in a year. And my ultimate plan is to direct seven films before I stop working as a director altogether.

Was it an easy decision to take?

It was difficult no doubt but I had to do it. I cannot go on and on and end up making bad and outdated films. I felt it was better to leave before I am forced to leave. The seven films that I still have to direct are enough to prove all that I am capable of. I want to make place for the new generation. They must be given the opportunities they deserve. I feel I have the resources, and the will to do it, then why not?

Will you cast students trained at 'Whistling Woods' in your future films?

That is a promise I have given them. If they are good enough and if they come up to my expectations and there is work to suit the talent of both the actors and technicians I will certainly take them. They are my own. How can I ever neglect them?

How do you think you have grown as a film maker.

I don't know about the Showman in me. It is something that the people and the media have gifted me with. I have only kept going stronger with every film. I had just one sword once, I have many more swords now. I have never stopped running because the day I do there will be no show and no man, I will be a dead man.
