What is the movie 'Life Partner' all about?

Essentially, the movie is about the ups and downs the three characters go through in their lives. The movie is a romantic comedy and realistic because of which sometimes the situations can be very funny. People get caught between family and love. A girl after marriage is tagged as someone's wife and looses on being a girlfriend. So, all these things can be very funny. It is a lesson also but at the same time very entertaining.

How was it for you to essay the role of a Gujarati guy because you need to have certain body language, accent and others?

We had to work a lot on Bhavesh's looks as the moustache also needed certain length and width. We had to try on different moustaches just to see what suited the character best. Costumes and hair had to be worked on as everything had to be very typically like a Gujarati guy from South Africa.

Tell us more about the character of Bhavesh that you essay in the film.

Bhavesh is a character in his own. May be all Gujaratis are not like him but because of his family background and upbringing, he is a little different from others. His lifestyle is different. He stays with rules and regulations and follows traditions. He has fun with his friends but at home he stays in pressure and believes in it too. To understand and imbibe all of it was difficult and needed a lot of hard work. When Prachi's character enters the film, a lot of changes take place in his life which one will see in the film.

How is Bhavesh's character different from the other comical roles that you have done in the past?

This is more serious comical as Bhavesh is very serious but he will be funny to the people. People will sympathize with him, like him but will find him funny also. Bhavesh is more realistic. There are many people who are Gujarati and conservative.

In a relationship, there are a lot of nok jhoks. What kind of nok jhoks will we get to see in 'Life Partner'?

The nok jhoks are very realistic. There are some normal issues that happen which I think is also healthy for a married life. Everything can't be sweet and rosy in a marriage. The couple in this movie are trying to understand each other and trying to adjust in a joint family. There is comedy in nok jhoks along with seriousness to it.

What role is Govinda playing in the movie of 'Life Partners'?

One line that best describes Govinda in the movie is 'Divorce ki pehli wajah hai woh din Shaadi' (Laughs). He is a divorce lawyer. He thinks with many divorces, his business will boom and so he encourages people to get a divorce.

Who would you think would be a perfect match for your 'Life Partner'?

I don't want someone who is perfect as that would give me complex. She should be someone, to whom I am attracted. She should be interested in sports and films as these two are the things I love doing. She should be intelligent, emotional, good cook, etc. (Laughs).

What kind of music would we get to hear in this film?

The music is commercial, good Hindi film music by Pritam which is very happening these days. After a long time one will see romantic comedy music in the film because now a days we have only out and out comedy films. This film has a honeymoon song with both the couples romancing which is not seen in Hindi films since long. A Gujarati flavour song is there that will play in Dandiya events. The song will make you very nostalgic as it is a mix of Retro and Gujarati music. We also have a comedy song. After a long time, one will see a song where the playback singer is asked to sing very badly. The music is situational but peppy. The more you hear, the more will you like it.

How much do you think will the audiences relate to the characters in the film?

I am sure people will be able to relate as a married man Rumi Jaffrey has written the script. He understands the nuances of a married life and what a good married life means. The problems faced by these characters are very common and many people face it in their day to day lives. So everyone will be able to identify with them.

What is the USP of the film 'Life Partner'?

'Life Partner' is a family film, clean film, which has comedy, drama, emotions, music, fun, etc. The movie is releasing on Janmashtmi and is an ideal film for a festival. Everyone will be able to relate with it and enjoy it.
