Today the configuration management servers in our office were down and there wasn't much we could do till the support engineer in US wakes up to fix the problem; so couple of us in office thought about catching up with some movie early in the evening. Initially we thought about Sarkar Raj, after hearing some strong negative feedback about the movie from people who have watched it we thought of checking out "Aamir". We booked the tickets online and went in to the half empty theater leisurely after having some snacks without knowing what to expect. Even before we could settle in our seats, we were dragged in to becoming part of the drama that started unfolding before us.
The pace and intensity of the movie is just awesome it keeps you on the edge of the seat through out. I am not going to reveal much about the plot of the movie here as that might spoil some fun. Rajiv Khandelwal, the main protagonist is very very convincing in every frame of the movie and has done a great job. The way in which he potrays his emotions, frustrations and helplessness is simply superb, a fabulous big screen debut for this TV actor. The screenplay cinematography, background score is fentabulous, I have never seen bombay picturized in this way in any other movie, it made me think on how limited were my knowledge and perception of Bombay before watching this movie. Even before we could come to terms with what was unfolding before us the movie ended in just 90 minutes leaving our mind drained and leaving so many questions unanswered. This is what I liked the most about the movie, it doesn't try to preach what is right or wrong, doesn't go out of its way to answer all the questions, the director trusts the intelligence of his audience to make their own judgment. Considering this is the directorial debut of Rajkumar Gupta, he does one heck of a job. This guy has got a great future ahead of him.
This movie is a must watch for any one who likes intelligent movie making. If you would like to encourage a young first time director, please go and watch the movie in the theater before it gets packed off to accommodate for some stupid movies like Dashavatharam, Mere Baap Pehle Aap and other idiotic romantic comedies.
PS: Please don't read all the nonsense reviews published in newspapers and websites, just go to the theater and experience one heck of a ride.
I really like the story line of the movie and Rajeev Khandelwal done a wonderful acting in his first movie and I think he rocks the bollywood one day like Big B & SRK.
The story is very unique, and intersting....... you dont get to watch movies like this in these days......Rajeev Khandelwal's acting was really good, I didnt feel like the movie needs an actress because Rajeev brought everything to it..........I was not sure to watch Sarkar Raj first or Aamir but I must say I made the right decision to watch Aamir first because it is worth watching......... hope to see Rajeev soon in something like this again....... one word for this movie and Rajeev's acting AWESOME
One heck of a ride
