All The Best

The movie begins with the title song 'All The Best', a lavish grand canvas carnival song that has to be seen to be believed, and you are mentally prepared to get a dose of your dhamaal as the movie slowly seeps into comedy before a fair introduction into the lifestyle of our main protagonists Prem Chopra (Ajay Devgn) and his wife Jhanvi (Bipasha Basu), with Veer (Fardeen Khan) and his girlfriend Vidya (Mugdha Godse). All is going well in the lives of these two wannabes... Prem, who wishes to create concept cars, and Veer, who wants to be a rockstar, and they are surviving on the monthly pocket money sent by millionaire Dharam Kapoor (Sanjay Dutt), step brother of Veer, until the duo become greedy for more money and lose an ill fated race and all their money! The two of them soon manage to find sources to re pay money to the local mafia don Tobu (Johny Lever), when Dharam accidentally lands in Goa, initially for four hours in transit, but ends up staying longer...The fun begins when Veer foolishly accepts fool proof ideas given by an extra smart Prem, putting all of them into more trouble than they expected.

A case of mistaken identities is always a great subject to play on and keeps the audience in splits and Rohit seems to be capitalizing the same n the past, 'Golmaal' (1979), 'Chupke Chupke', 'Angoor' and other hits have been a treat to watch and looks like Rohit has grown up on a staple diet of the same, and he even uses shots of 'Golmaal' and 'Chupke Chupke,' in the movie paying true homage to the classics. What is commendable is the director's capability to etch out each character and give them identities, without any effort, be it Johny Lever, Asrani, Ashwini Kalsekar, Sanjay Mishra or Atul Parchure, every character is made as an extremely funny caricature with unique identities. Like Ashwini's character speaks in a strong South Indian accent, while Asrani likes to give muhawras at every instant. The turn of events and the attempts to hide all reality from Dharam creates all the hilarious scenarios throughout the side splitting situational comedy.

The music of the film is good, the songs in 'All The Best….Fun Begins' are quite situational and are merged perfectly to suit the mood of the film, except the title song of course that rolls when the curtains go up. There are not too many action scenes but the car race sequence is a treat to watch with cars ripping each other apart and so is the 'Ghajini' style fight sequence. However, the best action scene which takes away all applauses is the somersaulting car act by Ajay Devgn, which is truly amazing and Ajay seems at great ease performing it. The dialogues by Bunty Rathod and Sajid Farhad are humorous and keep the flow of the movie in place.

Sanjay Dutt is no stranger to comedy but his role in 'All The Best….Fun Begins' is quite different and is almost like a college bully pulling a fast one on all especially his bakra Ajay. The most senior of the lot, Sanjay looks as hot as ever and where acting is concerned his comic timing is impeccable. Ajay Devgn seems to have made comedy his favorite genre by now with splendid performances one after another, his role as the smart ass Prem Chopra who gets outsmarted always is adorable. Fardeen is decent, so is Mugdha who has a few good scenes in the movie. Bipasha sizzles and gives good support to the three male leads throughout, proving her mettle. This film also brings the comic timing of Lever to the fore, who makes the best of his facial expressions and antics because he is dumb in the film, while the surprise package of the film is the duo 'Raghu and Dhondoo' (Sanjay Mishra and Atul Parchuri), who keep you in splits.

What is best about 'All The Best….Fun Begins' is that it is not just a comedy, but it has great music, terrific action and an emotional track towards the end, so in spite of being a madcap situational comedy of errors, it is a mixed bag, full of surprises and power packed performances. It is the ideal movie to watch during the festive season with your family. A hilarious family entertainer, paisa vasool!
