Vishal and Shekhar do it for the Yash Raj banner once again. They did a great job in Tashan and they replicate that in this Siddharth Anand directed flick, the highlight of which is ladykiller Ranbir Kapoor, and the three beauties Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. Even though the music composer duo's magic could not revive the fortunes of Tashan, it is hoped that they will not be playing saviour here but adding value to an already rocking film. Going by the film's promos, it promises to be a treat. And Vishal Shekhar's music is definitely one of the highlights of the film.
The album begins with a bang with an exquisite number titled, 'Khuda Jaane', sung by the inimitable KK and Shilpa Rao. The song tends to grow on you with repeated hearing. It has the potential to top the charts, what with the exquisite rendering by the vocalists, both of who have unique voices. The song has a remixed version as well. 'Khuda Jaane Revisited' as it is called has been remixed by Abhijeet Nalani. This number has everything going for it, and one is sure the actual picturisation of the song will be worth the wait.
The next track on the album is called 'Lucky Boy' and has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Raja Hassan and Hard Kaur. And it is Sunidhi who steals the show in this number along with Raja Hassan, last heard in the 'Maari Teetri' number from De Taali. His voice provides the vigorous Punjabi flavour while Sunidhi is at the best that she can be. This number should do exceptionally well as a dance number.
The surprise element in the album is provided by the appearance of Lucky Ali. He sings the third song in the album, 'Ahista Ahista', along with the mellifluous Shreya Ghoshal. The number believes one's expectations and is not exactly the kind of soft, sentimental number as one would have expected from these two singers. It definitely has a very melodious feel to it and the second half is even more touching than the first. The background score and the orchestration in this number is to watch out for. For Lucky Ali's admirers, this song is a literal boon.
Vishal Shekhar come up with another sure shot winner in 'Jogi Mahi' sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Himani Kapoor and Shekhar himself. The song begins with Shekhar, before Sukhwinder takes over. Himani joins in right at the end. This is the album's celebratory number where the dhols and nagaras make their appearance. All three vocalists do a splendid job in bringing out the mood of the song. Sukhwinder is in full flow and so is Shekhar.
Shankar Mahadevan comes to sing the number, 'Small Town Girl', which is the fun number in the album. Shankar does the song full justice and even though this track is not on the same level as, the others in the album, its picturisation could make all the difference.
The best seems to have been reserved for the end with the title track 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. The original 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', which was sung by Kishore Kumar for Rishi Kapoor in the film 'Hum Kisie Se Kam Nahin' has been recreated by Vishal Shekhar. They have fused the voice of the late Kishore Kumar with that of his son Sumit Kumar. Vishal makes his appearance and sings the rap portion. But let it not be assumed that the current music composers have only copied the original. They have added their bit, to make this a really one of a kind unique, musical experience.
Vishal Shekhar have delivered a top notch, peppy, album. It definitely ranks among their best, along side the recent Om Shanti Om. This is a sure short winner.
