BAGHBAN, BABUL, BHOOTNATH and BIG B!!! The influential "B" factor in Ravi Chopra's significant filmography maintains its top slot once again as things turns innovatively bizarre in psychological kid entertainer BHOOTNATH. Vishal-Shekhar, the hot choice of Gen X listeners proves to be ideal choice as they turned out to be ideal replacement for ever dependable Aadesh Srivastava. Amitabh Bachchan's vocal talents proves to be consistent spotlight again in consequential soundtracks but the surprise package streams out in the unexplored voice of Juhi Chawla in album's most melancholic number. Big B relives out the zing of his ever-lasting "Mere Pass Aao" (Mr. NATWARLAL) in contours of upbeat and rollicking hip-hop cum trance style of musical madness in highly entertaining "Mere Buddy". Javed Akhtar's calm, cool and collected wordings turn out to be real "masti" in fine set of fun-filled one-liners that gets brilliantly synchronized in electronically punched hip-hop rendition. It's great to hear Big B emceeing with such zest and so kid singer Armaan Malik getting into mood with great flair. This soundtrack will holding flags high for this kid entertainer, both musically and commercially, and do expect it to be among front runners in chartbusters in coming weekends. Super-Hit!!! It's indeed pristine to hear Big B in smoothening overtones and this time, it's a cool and serene harmonic surprise in one of this year's most melancholic and touching sentimental soundtrack "Chalo Jaane Do". It's an expressive vocal gesticulation of preaching loved ones in an elderly "lullaby" singing mode with surprise element in the form of Juhi Chawla's impressive voice. After under-promoted "Rozzana" (NISHABD) and unheard "Kehta Hai Babul" (BABUL), this Big B impressively rendered soundtrack will be bringing many smiles to his fans worldwide and probably be big asset in film's success. Javed Akhtar's modest wordings are meaningfully poignant in sermonizing affectionate parental sentiments where Amitabh and Juhi's voices turns out to be best ever choices for this lovable track. Do get into its peace-filled tranquil musical mode in its subtle piano notes that are finely tuned with mellowed violin works. Indeed Soul-stirring!!! "Banku Bhaiya", a frothy and peppy playful number delivers out the mischievous antics of cute kid "Banku" in the throaty voice of Sukhwinder Singh. It's comical, quizzical and to some extent traditional in its animated perky musical flow that epitomizes "bhoot" stylized fun-loving escapades. It will be visual treat when overgenerous "ghostly" act comes all the way in mind-blowing and humorous techno-wizardry impacts. Vishal-Shekhar's tantalizing animation impact in musical rendition is delightful and so does Javed Akhtar's lovable but roguish wordings. It's time for trendy kid special "turf-war" as loud percussive elements buzz with boisterously pitched vocals of child singers screams out loud in "Hum To Hain Aandhi". This belligerently poised "tug of war" has kid singers Koushtuv Ghosh, Aparnaa Bhaagwat, Shravan Suresh and Sneha Suresh making all thunderous violent vocal moves. Vishal-Shekahar has impressive situational number again to their credits and the track will be embarking a sporty "n" cool feel in its visual display. Salim-Sulaiman, the specialized whiz kids of background score brings out a dark and daunting intimidating appeal of psychological thriller in fine package of remarkably arranged and composed instrumental works in "Bhootnath-theme". The cloudburst thunders, soft tingling impacts, aggressive drumming, enthused percussions matched with howling chorals evokes out a typical bloodcurdling thriller impact. Impressive!!! After kid-loving numbers, mood turns thematically "filmi" in mediocre sounding "Samay Ka Pahiya", an expression about changing phases and facades of time. The number has impressive sounding Hariharan with articulate snippets by Amitabh Bachchan signifying the plight of dispossessed soul. It has stereotypical 80's and 90's routine expressive touches but goes out special for all Hariharan fans for his immaculately pristine soulful rendition. BHOOTNATH scores impressively with couple of "kid-loving" exciting soundtracks in the form of "Mere Buddy", "Chalo Jaane Do", "Banku Bhaiya" and "Hum to Hain Aandhi". After Aamir Khan's musically successful TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, this album holds maximum promise in the least-explored genre of kid-entertainers. It will also be big bonanza for all Big B fans for his mellifluous vocal display in tracks like "Chalo Jaane Do" and "Mere Buddy". Vishal-Shekhar's mantle will be escalating high in the marquee with this album and the predictable box office success will be adding more cheers to the album's success. Rating -3/5
