Mithun Chakraborty comes from a village to town and works as a coolie at a bus stop. He fights for the down-trodden and stands up against who extort money from the poor coolies. In the bargain, he becomes their hero. Mohan Joshi has his eyes on the basti where the coolie stay. How Mithun fights the evil is the rest of the story.
