Roop Kumar Rathod had concise but brilliant stint in tinsel town with mellifluously driven soulful melodies like "Maula Mere Maula" (ANWAR) and "Tere Liye" (VEER ZAARA) to his credit. DHOOM DADAKKA (earlier titled MUNGILAL ROCKS) brings him in the composer's chair and unlike his pristine stature; the album delivers out in commercial "masala" format. It may be form of rejuvenation or experimentation from him in making out big as composer but choosing a "massy" comical flick sounds too unassuming and non-happening for his style of music. One could have anticipated fine set of soulful serene melodies by having his name in the credits but the show restricts itself with "run of the mill" trendy musical substance with discouraging results. Like its fun-frolicking bombastic title, the title track "Dhoom Dadakka" comes in quizzically upbeat "disco-bhangra" thunderous thumps with Daler Mehndi and Jaspinder Narula making all aggressive vocal moves. The folksy tangy instrumental hiccups, frenzy emceeing followed by "bhangra" beat culture style of music sets the tempo for comical hullabaloo. It's a modest melodic work where hilarious endeavors will be founding its fancy outings in midst of thrilling-spilling thunderous "bhangra" blows showcased in the "cool" comical capers. This Daler Mehndi's overtly heard patent style of vigorously punched "bhangra" singing is an outmoded routine affair that won't adding any laurels to the album. It's likely to be catalyzed better as promotional feature or flavorful background score in the hilarious endeavors of the film. DJ's have something to cherish as they may found useful addition in the form of "Dhoom Dadakka (remix)". The vocal are audible while DJ claps and beat-juggling thrive aggressively in appreciating its festive mood. 1 takes a rustic splurge into "Holi" festivity with modestly penned wordings and lackluster sounding folksy musical works making its way in loosely conceived "Ara Ra Ra Ra". Udit Narayan's contemporary folksy "bhojpuri" punches are delightful that forms feeble chemistry with Roop Kumar and Kalpna vocals. It's uninspiring and jaded arrangements sounds too obsolete and the traditional "Jogi Ra Sa Aa Ra Ra..." playful "Holi" feel is completely unimposing. Even Anupam Kher and Satish Shah rendered quizzically penned one-liners fail to evolve any humorous thrills and make it as another ordinary sounding "Holi" track. Sunidhi Chauhan's sensuously rendered vocals gets into Arabic booty-shaking pub-dancing maneuvers in routine sounding "Hari Om". Roop Kumar's loud music hardly adds any modernization of disco-beat thumps that can really set the floors on fire. Do expect it to be another monotonously composed "item song" that will be flashing big with its ludicrously seductive moves and shakes on silver screen. Like "Dhoom Daddaka (remix)", the "club" remix edges over the original version for its peppy disco beat fillers that collages well with Arabic base music and accelerating beat-juggling tempo. DHOOM DADDAKA comes out as lesser and routine effort by Roop Kumar Rathod and none among the listed soundtracks delivers any chartbusting surprise. Rathod's frantic efforts of hitting big with "masala" type of musical entertainment have ended up as big disappointment. After such lackluster display, his ardent fans would be hoping something credible from his efforts that would carry his flair and beat of music. Rating -1/5
