One thing is for sure: Hindi cinema is changing at a lightening speed in terms of boldness!!! The ability to peek into the most private corners of urban India is getting finer by the day.
Dil Kabaddi is no different in terms of treatment, rather its very much like any other main-stream commercial film; only difference being its abstract style of narration, which rather making audiences curious let them down.
First time director Anil Senior tries hard to match his toddling steps with legendary film director Woody Allen. Imprint of Allen’s 1992 master piece ‘Husbands and Wives’ is clearly visible throughout Dil Kabaddi.
Dil Kabaddi takes the concept of peep-into-bedroom a step further; audiences are shown into the lives of two couples: their bedroom talks and confessional soliloquies. Dil Kabaddi is essentially an adult stuff where most intimate or animated parts of married life are discussed like share-market.
Two couples trying hard to resist the temptations of forbidden fruit called extramarital affairs that have grown out of post marriage boredoms. The concept might not be a new one but the presentation is definitely laden with more than one shock values!!! Only thing that will go against Dil Kabaddi is its weak plot that fails to hold the scattered parts together tightly.
But most likely Dil Kabaddi will manage to sail through as it mainly boasts on a strong star-cast comprising some of the finest actors of our time. Irfaan Khan is naturally flawless. Soha Ali Khan is a quick learner; a treat to watch!!! Rahul Bose is good as ever. Konkana Sen Sharma is mesmerizing; superb as always. Rahul Khanna is decent in his acts. Payal Rohtagi is catching up fast; with big-guns around she’s comfortable in her shoes. But it’s Saba who will make you feel at home with her natural acting skills.
Octan Entertainment Verdict: Go for it and get your shock resistance checked…good star-cast surely overplays the weak plot.
just fine
