Fool N Final

Himesh Reshammiya is on a roll. He already has innumerable albums to his credit this year. But the music of Fool N Final gives the impression that his mind or perhaps, his heart is not really on the business of music. We all know that he currently very absorbed in his film, Aap ka Suroor, which will see him make his debut as an actor. Is that the reason behind this lackadaisical approach to Fool N Final, Mr. Reshammiya? Or is it that, you've lost steam? Whatever, the reason, Fool N Final has little to recommend it in the way of music. There is nothing even to send the autowallahs into ecstasies. They are happier with Bhojpuri numbers these days!

At first glance, there are nine songs in this album, but take a closer look, and there are actually only four numbers, the remaining four have been remixed and the last is a track called FNF Masti Remix. This seems to be becoming a norm with most albums these days. But to come back to the 'original four songs in the album, the first is a number called Tere Layee, with Kunal Ganjawala and Himani lending their vocals to it. The track is a fast number, with a lot of rhythm to it. Kunal Ganjawala does a good job with what he's given. He has a pleasing voice and along with Himani, raises the level of this song from pure banality to something which is bearable. This is perhaps the best song in the album. Very catchy.

Punjabi tadka is still the flavour of the day for many. And we have one such seasoned song in Sigdi. But it kind of mixes a lot of influences and ends up being a mish-mash, and doesn't sound like anything from anywhere. Its remixed version doesn't fare any better. Rendered by Reshammiya himself, there is no special touch that he imparts to the song. He sings another song in this album of Fool N Final. It is a song called Ek Kalsa and its lyrics are truly strange as they go on about do kalsa, teen kalsa, etc. Unfortunately, the song may just work, such is the Reshammiya's nasal magic. Coming back to the lyrics, one has to give credit to the singers for trying so hard to render such banality with such seriousness.

Hanif Shaikh's Yeh Dooriyan is kind of pleasant hearing. It has nothing special in it, by way of vocals, music arrangement or lyrics. It doesn't grip your attention, beyond the duration of the song. The remixed version doesn't change the actual quality of the song. It remains mediocre at best.

The album ends with a FNF Masti Remix. It begins with the oldie 'Jo vaada kiya, nibhana parega' rendered in a childlike voice and is a medley of all the songs that came before in the album. The remix works well as it is fast paced and loud. Good, perhaps for dancing, as that is all that it provides. Fairly decent dancing fare. Where music goes, it languishes far behind.
