Vishesh Films has been instrumental in introducing some of the best talent in music over the years and the music of their films, not just in recent times but dating back to the first few films produced by the Bhatts, such as Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ke Maanta Hai, Sadak etc., have always been a class apart. They launched Toshi as a singer in Raaz 2 with the super hit song Mahi and this time they have teamed him with his brother Sharib to helm the reigns of music directors for a film in which music is critical. The Bhatts once again prove that they have the best music sense in the business and Sharib Toshi deliver in their debut album, songs which set an extremely high benchmark in terms of what they will need to come up with in their next film, to better their compositions of Jashnn.

Nazrein Karam gives the feel of a band playing together wherein one person starts with one instrument, gets joined by a second, then a third as though they are building the tune and then the song takes off. All you need to hear is 20 seconds to fall in love with the song and know that it is a hit. Once K K's voice kicks in, you are reassured that your opinion formed after the first 20 seconds was indeed correct; it's a beautifully composed song, sung fabulously by K K with great background support by Shreya, who is now getting more songs outside of the sweet, love songs genre and she is making the most of it. The lyrics are young, peppy and yet poetic and well worded. The flute sound reminds you of the melody of Pyaar Kiya To Nibhana from Major Saab but it is a subtle reminder and doesn't come across as a copy. The remix version will be a hit in all dance clubs and this song is going to keep Jashnn on the top of all music charts.

Aaya Re starts with a performance or concert feel and remains in the same genre as Nazrein Karam while being a bit more rock based. The lyrics by Kumar, are young, peppy, original and worth listening to even while you are absorbed by the musical composition. K K gives such amazing crescendos with just his voice that you can't get over how he goes from such a soft romantic rendition into rock mode, within the same line, without a break. The electric guitar and percussions are dominant throughout and this song too will be a chart topper and a favourite with all DJs.

The start of Dard E Tanhai reminds you of Beetein Lamhe from The Train as well as Ke Bin Tere from Agar. However once it progresses, you realize that it is a much better composition than its predecessors and the lyrics have a soul which the other two lacked. It has a soft rock feel in spite of being a sad song, a mix which has been compliment by Nouman Javaid's rendition. The basuri sound mixed with modern electronics and the simple strumming guitar is very pleasant. The closing sequence with the electric guitar followed by the basura again registers impact. The remix version strikes a middle path between club and lounge.

Tere Bin is a simple romantic number sung by Shaan and Shreya which just proves that sometimes simplicity can also be extremely effective, especially because this song follows tracks which have a lot more sounds and electronics. The track has the feel of a montage song and the use of the piano and simple percussions is perfect. Like the rest of the album, it has a very youthful feel, but yet manages to be poetic and romantic.

Main Chala essentially relies only on a strumming guitar and vocals which begin somewhat like Tune Mujhe Pehchana Nahin from Raju Chacha. The harmonium is heard prominently after a very long time in a Hindi song and is used to give a very Texan feel. This time Nouman is not only credited with the vocals but also the lyrics which are perfect for the mood of the song. The instrumental pickup just before the second antra is very well composed and a lot of credit goes to Nouman, as carrying the entire song with minimalistic instrumental support truly shows the strength and emotion in the voice of the singer. The unplugged version is just about a minute in length and leaves you wishing that there was a full length unplugged version.

The last song of the album, Aish Karle, has been sung by the composer duo Sharib Tarib. It's a fun number but is nowhere in the league of the earlier 5 tracks even with its rock and pop feel. The lyrics are just average which is maybe what brings the song down a few levels and even the composition is standard and somewhat clichéd, making the song ineffective in comparison to the others. But it will have a liking amongst the more massy listeners who will enjoy the casual style of the lyrics.

Jashnn is one of the best albums to hit the music stands this year and is a must buy. The freshness of the compositions, lyrics and the overall mood of each song is a rarity and this is one of those albums which will not only top the music charts now, but will go on to be remembered much after the film's release as well.
