Though sincere and noble and almost reverentially filmed, Khoya Khoya Chand ends up too long, and alas, too boring. Somebody please teach Soha Ali Khan on how to act, as she fails miserably, but Shiney Ahuja shines. The film belongs to the supporting cast. The film by Sudhir Mishra is a brave effort.
Have not seen the movie yet since it releases next week. I bought the music CD and the music is wonderful. The story sounds very interesting- a writer and an actress caught up in the exciting tumultous time of the 50s hindi film industry. Sounds like a great ride down memory lane. Waiting expectantly to see it next week.
A good one. There are many interesting things to notice. Use of old classics in background to characterize the change of time was a very smart move. The song khoya khoya and Thirak Thirak become the same song at the end which signifying that the subject of the film made by Shiney Ahuja was his life itself . The film is very cleverly crafted. The light and frames are pretty good. The ending though is quite conventional. There are quite a few subplots which worth paying attention but not really explored in the film. Overall, it's a good one.
It's a brave effort!
