Thoda mediocrity, Thoda failure!!! Now that sums up the fate of Yashraj's present set of music and film releases that is presumably all-time low. Every leading musical contemporary showed their rough patches and weak links in their albums like TA RA RUM PUM (Vishal-Shekhar), AAJA NACHLE (Salim-Suleiman) and LAGA CHINARI MEIN DAAG (Shantanu Moitra). The mediocre phase unravels to extra miles with THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC where "hot "n" happening" triumvirate Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (SEL) scores reasonably. SEL had tremendous outing with Yashraj in BUNTY AUR BABLI and JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM with fun-filled chartbusting tracks. The communion seems to facing major jolt as THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC proves to be average affair.

After soul-enchanting melodies like "Maa" and "Taare Zameen Par" (TAARE ZAMEEN PAR), the lovable soulful ambience of "dream paradise" makes another lively presence in the wordings of gifted Prasoon Joshi in "Pyar Ke Liye". Shankar Mahadevan's penetrative and generously genteel voice showcases the innocent and tender emotions in bouquet of delectable tender poetry in wordings like ("Dil ki shakho pe, Dalte hai kyun jhule, Khussbhoo kyun kisi ki saaason ko na bhoole...") The highlight of this lovable melody is the cherubic piano works, frolicking chorals and enchanting jingles that form impressive signature tunes for the film. The song mesmerizes the feel of tender innocent emotions in delectably poised musical decorum that stays on with its lovable signature tunes.

Simply Outstanding!!!

S-E-L experiments with the elements of traditional "qawalli" in making all frolicking romantic moves and gestures for the mushy love chemistry in average sounding "Nihaal Ho Gayee". It has the zany feel of "Kajra Re" (BUNTY AUR BABLI), "Saiyaan Re" (SAALAM-E-ISHQ) for its "qawalli" works and peppy touches of frolicking tracks like "Ticket to Hollywood" (JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM). Prasoon Joshi's lyrical works have always been brilliant in lovable and soulful melodies but proves modest in this context. Shankar Mahadevan has another delightful number to his credits but the musical feel is too unimposing and repetitive. "Nihaal Ho Gayee (remix)" put the dance floors on fire with its racy and thumping musical outburst and likely to be one hot-shot rollicking track for the floors. Do feel its "groovy" and bouncy disco beat fillers as it collages well with aggressively voiced vocals.

"Bulbula", a lively and sprightly track about "angel" like character brings out lively paced westernized arrangements with impressive vocals. It's a primarily visually spectacle track that deserves to be garnished with delightful visual effects. Shanakar Mahadevan along with angelic chorals forms impressive preludes followed by modulating Sunidhi Chauhan leading from the front. Sunidhi Chauhan scores another remarkable track that should find its relevant substance in this "kid-loving" entertainer.

After seductively vocals of Monali in "Zara Zara Touch Me" (RACE), another promising voice arrives in the form of Anusha Mani in the "Hinglish" lingo number "Lazy Lamhe". The tentatively seductive oomph in sluggish overtures is well conceptualized with soft percussive elements and electronic sounds. S-E-L gets their acts together well in generating the "oomph" factor which brings the likes of Alisha Chinai to ears. Anusha's varied vocals get the tantalizing treatment of moderately punched DJ's beat-juggling impacts in setting the mood for lively dancing on floors in "Lazy Lamhe (remix)". It's another enthralling remix track that can really set the moods high on delightful evening.

Shreya Ghoshal's soft and appealing vocal textures get into preachy modes of attaining brighter tomorrow in situational soundtrack "Beetey Kal Ke". It's a decent hear number that is thematically relevant to the subject but the impact of "kid-loving" fairy endeavors experienced in tracks like "Jame Raho" or "Kholo Kholo" (TAARE ZAMEEN PAR) is missing.

THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC is a decent but not chartbusting surprise album by the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Prasoon Joshi relives some moments of TAARE ZAMEEN PAR with the best soundtrack of the album ("Pyar Ke Liye") while rest of the tracks sounds above average to mediocre in their melodic feel. S-E-L may not have strike jackpot this time but surely has delivered some fine moments in couple of soundtracks.
