It's a light, romantic comedy, with a bit of personal tragedy. Kuhu (Mallika Sherawat) is drowning her sorrows in shots of tequilas. Kabir (Ranvir Shourey) spots her standing dangerously close to an oncoming train on a platform. He acts in the nick of time to pull her from coming in contact with the oncoming train. She is punch drunk, and he is a novice when it comes to being in the presence of a girl. He carries her off to a hotel to spend the night. He lands up in the jail for tinkering with the power supply while she lands home with his mobile. Then begins the kahani of Ugly and Pagli. No need to tell you who is Ugly and who is Pagli. Kabir is besotted by Kuhu and even though she rains slaps on him, he is willing to be her slave. Somewhere along the line she begins to fall in love with him and then realises its not right and leaves him to hibernate in Kolkatta for two years. Kabir is distraught, but life goes on. They do meet in the end, though. Ranvir is a good actor but is now getting into the dangerous zone of being slotted for 'hatke roles'. To his credit, he slips into the role of a 'hen-pecked' boyfriend with ease. Mallika Sherawat lights up the screen when she dresses the way she dresses best -- in skimpy outfits. To her credit, it must be said that she carries off her outfits with such ease that it does not even look sleazy. Her comfort level is what makes her walk with confidence. There is no flow to the script. She takes him on a trip to Goa and then leaves him in the lurch because she cannot come to terms with her first love. Apparently, her first boyfriend died. That's what we are told, how, we don't know. Then a prospective groom tells her that he met her best friend Kabir and he has told her all about her. Strange! How are they friends, and how does Kabir know that his friend is going to see Kuhu along with his parents. And why does he not go and meet her instead, because he is searching high and low for her. Also, why this obsession for slapping by Kuhu, and which man in his right mind will take such slaps constantly? Too many questions for which we grope for answers. Actually, come to think of it, maybe the slaps are to keep us awake! The music is a big let down and most of the songs seemed forced into the scenes. But yes, there are a few light moments. Director, Sachin Khot, began with a good intention but somewhere along the line, he lost the plot. A good intention does not necessarily translate into a good movie. And with a lack of star cast, it would be extremely difficult to drive this movie through. A lone Mallika cannot lure in the audience. College students might want to get a dose of this romantic comedy. Ratings : 2/5
