Director Shekhar Kapur had been intending to revive his project, Time Machine but has instead given away the rights of the film to Aamir Khan, who will now be producing it.
Intially Shekhar wanted to start the project all over again with the film's original cast, which includes Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah and Aamir. However, since Shekhar had other crucial plans up his sleeve, he decide to give the film's script to Aamir. According to sources, the actor will now zero in on a director to take charge of the project. The script of Time Machine has a lot of humour in it and so Aamir is looking for a director who can handle comedy well. He seems to be quite taken by Raju Hirani and the Munnabhai series. But he is yet to take a decision on the matter. According to sources, Aamir will make a change in the cast. When Shekhar had launched the film, Amrish Puri had a major role to play in it. But since the actor is no more, he will have to be replaced by another actor. Naseer is also not likely to be part of the project anymore. Aamir also plans to cast another actress in place of Raveena Tandon. A final decision on who will replace Amrish Puri and Naseer is yet to be taken although.
