Phoonk, released on August 22nd, has been critically acclaimed as one of Ram Gopal Varma’s finest works of horror. The Telugu version, Raksha, which was under production, stars Jagapathi Babu Kalyani and Baby Neha and a veteran star cast with performers like Jayasudha, Rajiv Kanakala, Jeeva, Subbaraju, Radha Kumari, Master Atul, Pradeep Rawat, Chandrashekar, Bhargavi and Narsing Yadav. Raksha is set to release on September 19th. Revolving around ‘Banamati’ and ‘Chetabadi’, i.e., witchcraft, the film deals with the shadow world that is not scientifically proved but that people believe in anyway. Being a Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) movie, it is guaranteed to a be on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller. Raksha is being presented by Ram Gopal Varma. Akella Vamsi Krisha, a debutant, is directing the film under the One More Thought Entertainment and Z3 Pictures banners. Bobby Tutul has scored the music.
