Bollywood has always been fascinated with the villain or con men. In fact, the so called 'bad man' has often been the subject of many a film, like say a Dayavaan or even a Sarkar, for instance. The not so recent Bunty Aur Babli too dealt with the story of two petty thieves.
Well, this flirting and romancing those on the wrong side of the law, continues to be a Bollywood fascination. The latest to join the bandwagon is director Dibakar Banerjee, who is making a film with actor Abhay Deol in the lead. The film, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, is reportedly based on a Delhi conman and burglar called Bunty, who was arrested last year. According to reports, this Bunty was involved in more than 200 case of theft in some of the finest localities of the Capital. The story also goes that when the cops nabbed him and searched his house; they found goods worth more than four crores. One doesn't know how far this is true, but apparently six trucks were needed to transport the stuff. He had a special fascination for expensive things like Kashmiri carpets, antiques, jewellery, watches and cars. According to the director, Abhay's character is a mix of many interesting thieves in the film, including Bunty, who he has also met. The director has done his research for the movie and also looked into criminal psychology to understand the psyche of such men. The film is set to release on November 28. One has to say, that Abhay has shown that he is willing to experiment and try out all kinds of roles.
