Actor Aamir Khans home production Delhi Belly, which is being directed by Abhinav Deo, began its shooting in September this year, in Delhi. Aamir was initially supposed to star in the movie as well, but he has decided to opt out.

It seems that the character that Aamir was to essay was supposed to be fat. The actor would have to gain weight for the movie. But since he was committed to doing 3 Idiots after Ghajini, he would only be able to get into shape for the film after the shooting of Rajkumar Hiranis film is over. Since that would have delayed the film indefinitely, Aamir decided to opt out of the movie, even though he was very keen to play that role. Delhi Belly is nearly 70 per cent complete and is being targeted for a release in the middle of next year. Aamirs nephew Imran Khan, is playing one of the three main characters in the movie. The role was initially offered to Ranbir Kapoor, who declined, saying that he would not be comfortable watching the film with his family. That is when Imran stepped into his shoes. Now that Aamir has also decided to opt out, it is believed that theatre actor and director of the English film, The President Is Coming, is stepping into the role. Abhinav, the son of character actors Ramesh and Seema Deo, has had a successful stint as an ad filmmaker as well. Incidentally, the young director has also been signed on by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for their next project, which is supposed to be a murder mystsery.
