As the embargo on film releases continues, there is a glut of films which are waiting for release. In the months between June to December, there have now collected some 32 odd big films which will should be hitting the screens once the embargo is over.
One does not need to be a businessman to realize that with 32 films releasing over the next few months would actually amount to something like five releases a month. It also does not take any genius to realize that in such a scenario, each of the films would be eating into the other's profits. Back to back releases of films are not really helping anyone. Generally, the trend has been to stagger the release of movies at decent intervals through the year. But this time round, in the next seven months, there are biggies like Kambakkht Ishq, New York, Blue, Kites, My Name Is Khan, 3 Idiots, Raavan, Love Aaj Kal, Aladin, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, Rajniti, Luck, Kaminey and Veer among others. Another films which has been affected by the embargo has been Vashu Bhganani, whose Kal Kissne Dekha has been stalled. It was initially set to release in May but has now been pushed to June. The release date of these films is expected to be decided and announced by the producers' forum. But this much is true, that this ongoing tussle between the multiplex owners and film producers has not helped either party so far.
