London, October 6 (ANI): In what may help ebb bitterness between the US and North Korea, the New York Philharmonic orchestra is contemplating staging a show in the communist State.
The representatives of the orchestra are due in capital Pyongyang on Sunday, where they will check on venues for a potential concert.
They have decided to perform in North Korea only after receiving an invitation from the country itself.
It is believed that their arrival will please dictator Kim Jong-il, who is well-known for his liking of classical music.
According to Jong-ils' biography, he was a ten-year-old musical prodigy when he wrote a song titled 'The Embrace of My Motherland'.
"It's a country that none of us have ever dreamed of going to. The next three or four days are going to be very eye-opening for us," the Telegraph quoted Philharmonic President Zubin Mehta as saying.
He also revealed that a State Department official would accompany the Philharmonic representatives on their North Korea visit.
"In as much as this is something that both sides are interested in exploring, we will do what we can to facilitate it," said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack. (ANI)
