The success of Johnny Gaddar has promoted the director, Sriram Raghavan to make another film in the Johnny series. This film is titled Johnny Tokyo. However, Raghavan will not write the film's script.

According to Raghavan, he had an interesting plot and when he discussed it with others; they all liked it a lot. The title Johnny Tokyo fits the film perfectly, he said. Raghavan says that he is keen to make the film with Neil Nitin Mukesh. But he plans to wait for the script and then take a final decision. The director is quite busy with other projects and therefore does not have the time to script the second film in the Johnny series. His film with John Abraham is due to go on the floor next month and he also has to begin work on his film with Saif Ali Khan, which should hit the floors next year. Raghavan denies that Johnny Tokyo will be sequel as Johnny Gaddar does not have an open ending. There are no loose ends in Johnny Gaddar, hence Johnny Tokyo will be a new thriller altogether. But the name Johnny stays.
