Considered as Mr. Perfectionist in the Bollywood circles, this versatile actor produced the epic of a movie, Lagaan, which was ultimately nominated for the Oscars. Yes, this is about the superstar of Hindi movies, Aamir Khan.
The star recently started his own blog www.lagaandvd.com/blog to interact with his fans, which had become a huge hit just like his films. What is unbelievable is that Aamir used to monitor the website and constantly update it. It is said that he reads all the comments posted on the website and personally answers most of them.
But all this will officially come to an end on October 9th, 2007 as the actor has decided to close down the site due to lack of bandwidth. A recent posting on the website read thus: “Well folks, all good things must come to an end and it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that this is my last post on this blog ... The reason guys, is that henceforth I will simply not have either the time or the bandwidth to continue with this blog.” The end of the blog site is in tune with Aamir’s plan to start his own website www.aamirkhan.com. While the website will continue to feature his blogs, the most surprising aspect is that Aamir has also decided to host a 24x7 chat session. Movie buffs can chat with each other and when time permits the actor himself would join the session.
The site, scheduled to be launched on October 10th, at 12:01 AM IST is sure to witness a record number of hits. Word is that the star will participate in live chats between 9 PM and 10 PM on that day and will launch the curtain raiser of his forthcoming movie Taare Zameen Par in the website. The movie’s official launch will be on the next day, which means those registered with the site will get to see the sneak peak of the awaited movie, a day earlier. An actor, famous the world over for his versatile acting, has come up with a unique way to interact with his fans. Aamir’s move to start a website goes on to prove how much his fans mean to him and their criticism as well. What remains to be seen is that; will our Kollywood heroes follow suit and start having websites of their own to let fans air opinion on their sites.
