Mumbai: The Film Federation of India (FFI) met a short while ago to decide if the film Eklavya will continue to be India's official entry to the Oscars.

The meeting was inconclusive and the decision has now been deferred till a second of meeting is held.

The Academy of Motion Pictures in the US, which awards the Oscar, has given the federation time till Wednesday to confirm Eklavya's entry.

Last month, director Bhavna Talwar whose film Dharm is shortlisted by the committee, which chooses India’s entry, filed a petition alleging that some members of the FFI were close to Vidhu Vinod Chopra and so the selection of Eklavya is not a fair one.

The High Court had agreed that there seemed to be some form of favoritism.

Chairman of the Film Federation of India Vinod Pandey said a second round of meeting will held before the final decision is taken.

“The meeting is still going on. It is only the first part of the meeting that has been completed. The conclusive part is yet to take place. The Academy is in touch with us and has said it will be pleased to hear from us if we take new steps,” said Pandey.
