Director Vishal Bharadwaj is all set to start work on his next movie. The subject of his latest film is none other than actress Mary Evans, popularly known as "Fearless Nadia' during her heydays because of the daredevils stunts that she performed.
Nadia was part of the film industry from 1935 to 1970. Bharadwaj has been very impressed by the story of Nadia. He has thoroughly researched her life and is now busy penning down the script. In fact Bharadwaj is even believed to have traveled to West Bengal to look for suitable locations to shoot his film. Nadia, who was born as Mary Evans in Australia, came to India as a child. She began working in the circus in the 1930s and was known as Fearless Nadia. Tall, blonde with blue eyes, Nadia caught the attention of Hindi filmmakers and began her career in Hindi films. Her film Hunterwali made in 1935 made her famous as the masked and cloaked adventurous actress who sacrificed luxuries for the sake of her country. In her film career, Nadia acted in 33 films. She married Homi Wadia, the director of Hunterwali. The actress passed away in 1996 in Mumbai but if all things go well, she will soon be immortalized by Bharadwaj.
