White Feather Arthouse Films' first film, The Great Indian Butterfly, after being selected for the Indo-America Arts Council Film Festival is now set to go to the River to River, Florence Indian Film Festival happening from the 7th to the 13th December 2007. The River to River, Florence Indian Film Festival, is the first festival in the world to entirely devote to films from and about India.

Speaking on this, Sanjay Gupta says, "The Great Indian Butterfly just selected for the IAAC Film festival and now being selected for the Florence Indian Film festival is another feather in our cap. White Feather Arthouse Films was launched as we wanted to make path-breaking films that would cater to a niche audience looking for intelligent cinema and now with getting selected for these festivals has made the company very proud".

White Feather Arthouse Films was started by Sanjay Gupta to promote independent cinema with daring content; to nurture talent in that realm and to give voice & platform for young filmmakers exploring new vistas.

The Great Indian Butterfly is directed by Sarthak Dasgupta (BE, MBA). Five years into the high flying corporate world, he realized, life needed a different definition. He left his cushy job and got down to writing and then gradually into directing.

Sensitive to human pain, Sarthak's films deals with inquiries into simple truths and meanings of human existence.

In the Great Indian Butterfly, unable to come to terms with the sacrifices required for success, a young urban couple takes a trip in search of a mystical butterfly. It brings peace, love, luck and happiness, if found.

Can they survive the journey? Will it wreck havoc on their souls? Will there be redemption? Or is it a futile hunt for an answer to their crumbling lives? The Great Indian Butterfly is a simple tale in the complex miasma of a changing India. The lead cast includes Aamir Bashir, Sandhya Mridul, Koel Purie & Barry John.
