From time and again Tamil films have been proving their mettle in the international arena. Recently Veyil, Paruthi Veeran and Ram have been receiving accolades from international luminaries of filmdom which has really made every Tamilian proud.
Now for the upcoming international film festival to be held in Goa from November 23 to December 3, Periyar and Ammuvaagiya Naan have been selected for screening. Out of 119 films vying for screening at the festival, 21 were selected and from Tamil, these two are chosen.
Periyar directed by Gnana Rajashekaran is about the Dravidian reformist leader and the role was played by Sathyaraj. The film had received lot of rebates and concession from the state government.
On the other hand Ammuvaagiya Naan directed by Padmamagan was a socially relevant theme and dealt with the life of a sex worker and her attempts to join the mainstream life after she marries a writer. Partiban and Bhardhi had rendered a powerful performance in the film.
