Washington, Oct 25 (ANI): Jim Caviezel has signed on to star in the remake of 1978 Australian suspense thriller "Long Weekend."

The 'Passion of the Christ' star will be appearing alongside Claudia Karvan in the Arclight Films' pic.

The plot of the movie centers on a young couple on a camping trip who disregard the local environment by shooting guns and wounding animals until the wildlife starts to hit back.

Everett de Roche has penned the script for the pic, which will be directed by 'Urban Legend' helmer Jamie Blanks, reports Variety.

Arclight topper Gary Hamilton and Nigel Odell are on board as producers.

Lensing is scheduled to commence in Australia in mid-November.

The original film was directed by Colin Eggleston and starred John Hargreaves and Briony Behets.

Darclight, the genre division of Arclight, will handle worldwide distribution and sales of the new film. (ANI)
