Mumabi: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has one thing to say about his good friend and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.Thursday Oct 25 2:55 PM
He says, "Woh jo karta hai, main nahi kar pata hoon. Main jo karta hoon woh nahi kar pata hai. So hum duno bahut alag hai ek doosre se. (I can't do what he does and he can't do what I do. We are very different from each other.)"
Both of them studied together in Delhi, came to Mumbai and struggled together and finally this Friday their new films, No Smoking and Jab We Met will be battling it out at the box office.
Both have seen each others films and we wonder what film to watch out for.
Imtiaz Ali says, "Of course Jab We Met is my film and i would like maximum people to see it."
Anurag Kashyap adds, "Main to bolunga meri dekho. Phir bolunga uski dekho.(I will say see my film first and then see his film.)"
However, they have nice things to say about each other's films too. Imtiaz Ali says, "No Smoking is something that I have seen and I can say it's a good film."
"Humlog is tarah se ladte rahenge ki dekhte hain teri film zyada kamati hai ya meri film. (We always fight like this and we keep telling each other, let's see whose film does better), says Anurag Kashyap.
No Smoking stars John Abraham and Ayesha Takia in the lead and Shahid Kapoor will be seen romancing Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met.
Both the directors got critical acclaim with their first releases Black Friday and Socha Na Tha. Imtiaz even made a cameo appearance in Kashyap's Black Friday.
However, both the films didn't work at the box office. No doubt that this time Imtiaz's film Jab We Met has created good pre-release buzz because of Shahid-Kareena's on-and-off affair but Imtiaz says he is confident about his friend's film as well.
"It's a path-breaking film. The first thing that I told Anurag after I finished watching it was 'I cant believe that this film has been made in India'. We see European films and we talk about them and we wonder why these kind of films cannot be not made in our country, which is the biggest producer of films worldwide. He actually has gone ahead and done that," says Imtiaz Ali.
The audience meanwhile, is looking forward to both the releases.
