One cannot say that Tamil is a dying language. We now have beautiful actresses wanting to further their fluency in the language. A great deal of credit for that goes to the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
His novel 'Ulliyin Osai' is being made into a film. Heroine Keerti Chawla is learning Tamil to get her pronunciations right. She is also learning classical dance as she plays a dancer role in the film.
Another of the CM's novels 'Thaai Kaviyam' is being made into a film. Khushboo plays the mother role. This is the first time she will be spouting the CM's wonderful dialogues. She has been taking Tamil lessons to get her Tamil pronunciations right and get the CM's approval.
Charmi is acting in 'Laadam.' It is yet another Tamil film, but for Charmi who is coming back to Tamil films after a long spell in Telugu, her language is none too fluent. To reinstate herself in Tamil films, she is learning Tamil too.
We come finally to Namitha. Till now, she had no great problem with dialogues and everyone knows why! But in Sarath Kumar's latest film '1977' she has to be totally covered, wearing a lawyer's robes and delivering lengthy dialogues, with nothing to distract in the scene. So she is now learning Tamil fervently with the help of assistant directors.
It is indeed a feat that Tamil cinema has propelled so many actresses into learning Tamil. Maybe we should hold a felicitation function for the CM to have achieved this!
