Director Vikraman in the industry is known for delivering neat family based films.
One such film was Unnai Ninaithu which was produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers in the year 2002. The film which had Surya, Sneha and Laila in the lead roles was well received by the audience.
Producer Ramesh had sought the remake rights of this film in Kannada which was refused by Vikraman.
Meanwhile a Kannada film titled Krishna was produced by Ramesh and was released last month. Interestingly this film is reported to be copy of Unnai Ninaithu letteratim. A visibly shocked Vikraman says, “As producer Ramesh had asked the Kannada remake rights of Unnai Ninaithu at a rate that was not acceptable to me, I declined his offer. Then they started threatening me stating that if rights are not given, they would go ahead and copy the film and further more, even challenged me to do whatever I can.” Vikraman also adds that despite complaining to the producer’s council, Ramesh has lifted his story and has made the film in Kannada. As a course of further action he has plans to sue the producer and director of Krishna.
