Wait! It is not about the ones in Egypt, but we are talking about our own Pyramid Saimira, that they are in an acquisition spree acquiring theatres across Tamilnadu is not what caught our attention but that they have spread their wings far and wide, so far as the US is what has left even the industry sources baffled.
The theatre chain Pyramid Saimira Theatres Limited (PSTL) has entered the US market with the acquisition of Texas based Fun-Asia for an undisclosed sum, marking the entry of the first Indian theatre chain into the US.
This nine year old enterprise is the largest Asian theatre chain in the US operating 11 screens in Houston, 6 in Dallas besides a Radio station and three banquet halls.
Pyramid Saimira on the other hand are rapidly expanding its theatre acquisition business in India, this forms one of the four subsidiaries which include film production and distribution each of which have independent fund-raising programs. They also intend foraying into the Food and Beverage business for which they are contemplating options of floating a separate enterprise. It already has plans of setting up 10 food courts in its multiplexes across the country. Guess this is what brand building is all about.
