But before the cash counters ring and the verdict comes one should not forget that music which plays an important part in deciding the fate at the box office.
Music composers Vishal and shekhar in Om Shanti Om have created a retro sound track with a lot of experimentation with various musical instruments.
"The music of OSM is like a complete stretch of early 70's.we have added a lot of variety in the songs played with a lot of instruments too,” says Shekhar.
Like its theme of unrequited love, Saawariya's music also has an underlying tone of melancholy that has been quick to catch the fancy of audiences who love melodrama in all forms.
The soundtrack is already a hit and the composer is ecstatic that he has contributed in some way to the film's promotion.
"This is my first film as a music director and I know that this film will do really do well and its going to make history,” says music director of Saawariya, Monty.
The hard work has paid off for the composers as their records are selling like hot cakes.
OSO's retro music and wacky lyrics and Saawariya's melodious tunes have had the audiences grooving to their tunes.
Music retailers now expect record-breaking sales from both the films. Now that's music to the ears.
