Ranbir Kapoor's debut venture may not have sent the cash registers ringing, but his performance sure has caught the attention of many directors. The latest is that Ranbir has been finalized to replace Shah Rukh Khan in Raju Hirani's next.
If the news is correct then this will be Ranbir's third film after Saawariya and the Yashraj's next. Hirani's film is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five-Point Someone. Shah Rukh had opted out of the film after differences cropped up between him and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It is believed that Hirani is a much relieved man after Ranbir gave him the nod as his Munnabhai 3 is stuck due to Sanjay Dutt's imprisonment and SRK had opted out of his other film. Hirani had also held detailed narration sessions with Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan, both of who were very keen to do the film. But Abhishek's dates were taken by Rakesh Mehra's Dilli 6 while Hrithik is busy with the pre-production work of his films with Anurag Basu and Krrish 2. The moment Hirani saw the promos of Saawariya he decided to approach Ranbir. He is even believed to have spoken to Sanjay Leela Bhansali about Ranbir. After having a word with Bhansali, he approached Ranbir and it has all been finalized now. The news is yet to be officially confirmed by either Hirani or Ranbir.
