Mumbai: He is the filmmaker who made his directorial debut with the hard hitting police drama Shool. He went on to direct films like Dum, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and Bardaasht, none of which worked like Shool. And now director E Niwas is back with a slice of life film called My Name is Anthony Gonsalves. Monday Nov 12 10:55 PM
The film revolves around the story of a bar tender who dreams of becoming an actor someday but ends up meeting a don played by Pavan Malhotra.
“Both are quite diametrically opposite characters by nature. So, as the story progresses, a conflict arises between both of them by their choices. Both of them have to stand by their moral choices and what happens with them is the rest of the story,” says Niwas.
The film introduces a new face called Nikhil Dwivedi in the role of Anthony Gonsalves. Actor Mithun Chakraborty will also be seen in an interesting role of a priest in a church.
Niwas, who has turned producer with this film says the box office results of his previous films don’t bother him.
“I really don’t think that I would want to feel bad about it. It’s my conscious effort to make different genres of film. It was very easy for me after Shool to come up with same kind of intense films and all. That time people would say he is doing the same thing. So its conscious decision and it excites me,” says Niwas.
The film releases early next year. And next up is Ritesh deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani starrer De Talli. Two more films are in the pipeline as well.
