Buxom bombshell Mallika Sherawat has been out of action for sometime now. She was last seen setting the screen on fire in Mani Ratnam’s Guru, where she did a cameo as a Turkish belly dancer shaking a leg to A R Rahman’s ‘Mayya Mayya ….’ number.
Her last outing in Bollywood, Pyaar Ka Side Effects, showcased her acting talent and even left critics, who drubbed her as someone banking on skin show, raving about her histrionics.
This Haryanvi beauty is presently acting in Sanjay Chhel's directorial venture Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam. The story revolves around a theatre group, which performs a play titled Mughal-e-Azam, not the epic; in which Mallika and Paresh Rawal play theatre artistes. Sanjay wanted to make sure Mallika got her nuances of a theatre artiste right and to ensure that, he took her to the Prithvi Theatre Festival and even asked her to attend a workshop.
The others in the cast include Paresh Rawal, Rahul Bose as a CBI officer and K K Menon as Ghazal singer and all of them have the necessary theatre experience except Mallika. Being an enthusiastic actress that she is, Mallika readily agreed and is all gung-ho about the project.
