In a recent interview to a trade magazine, Shah Rukh Khan is believed to have said that Farah Khan was approached by Reliance Entertainment, headed by Anil Ambani, to direct a film for them. He went on to say that he asked her to go ahead and consider the offer as they were offering her good money, but she turned it down.
It is being speculated that the offer was turned down because of SRK's proximity to the other brother, Mukesh Ambani. Of course, Farah has a different story to tell. According to her, she was approached by a representative from the company to direct a film for them, much before Om Shanti Om. According to Farah, Red Chillies is like her own banner so she sees no reason why she should direct for some strange company, in that case. The comfort level is very high for her at Red Chillies and she is paid extremely well. The bonus, like she says is that she gets to direct the biggest superstar, Shah Rukh Khan himself. Also, because of her friendship with SRK, nobody questions her on how much money she spends on her production. But jokes apart, Farah says that she turned down the Reliance offer as she was not ready. At that time she was very busy trying to put together the script for Om Shanti Om and the pre-production for the film as well. Right now, she is on a one-year break after her delivery in February next year.
