The only true blue new release this Friday is going to be UTV Motion Pictures' John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Bipasha Basu, Boman Irani and Naveen Andrew starrer, DHAN DHANA DHAN GOAL. One feels that the music of the film had a lot of potential but needed more time to grow and the 'Diwali' release OM SHANTI OM will again be very strong, next weekend. As a result, GOAL may not be able to perform to its full potential. However, the performance in UK is expected to be good.

As there were no releases last Friday, let us checkout the opening week performance of the first 'Diwali' release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's SAAWARIYA. As we had indicated last week itself, the Ranbir, Sonam, Salman (special appearance) and Rani starrer could not hold its collection after the first three days. The collections nosedived on the 4th and 5th day. Still, thanks mainly to the first weekend, SAAWARIYA has managed to yield a distributors share of around 12 crore. In its first week SAAWARIYA has netted around 20 crores from India and trade believes that its makers will be lucky not to lose around 10 crores, even if all its earnings are pooled together, given the huge budget and involved costs. In the Overseas, SAAWARIYA's collections fell heavily. The movie has so far grossed $805,054 from the US and $554,271 from UK.

The second 'Diwali' release, Farah Khan's OM SHANTI OM recorded phenomenal collections, both in India and Overseas. The film held its own even during the weekdays, with some fall only on Thursday. In its opening week, OM SHANTI OM has established a new record, netting in excess of 40 crores from India and the movie is already a semi-hit to hit, despite its heavy price. The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal and Shreyas Talpade starrer is already a blockbuster in the Overseas, grossing $1,997,013 from UK and $2,892,773 from the US.

Coming to one of the earlier releases, JAB WE MET, the Shahid-Kareena starrer took a huge but expected fall in the third week, obviously due to the two 'Diwali' biggies. Checking out the numbers, the Imtiaz Ali directed film collected 46 lakhs from Bombay, 6.30 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.20 lakhs from Baroda, 1.85 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.15 lakhs from Jamnagar, 10.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.70 lakhs from Noida, 7.25 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.25 lakhs from Agra, 3.25 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Indore, 2.65 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.60 lakhs from Aurangabad and 7.75 lakhs from Hyderabad.
