The timing was just perfect. With the movie Om Shanti Om sweeping box office records and becoming a blockbuster worldwide, a book that would answer and explain the making of this super success was just what the film buff ordered. And so very much like a rerun of the movie, as the music rolled out, the cast and crew of Om Shanti Om, the stars of the film fraternity, friends and colleagues of the author Mushtaq Shiekh's walked in to Sahara Star, to celebrate the launch of his book The Making of Om Shanti Om.

A phalanx of stars vended their way to the event horizon including close friend and superstar of the film Shah Rukh Khan, producer Gauri Khan, director and co-screenplay writer Farah Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Arjun Rampal, Manish Malhotra, music directors Vishal Shekhar and friends and eminent colleagues of the film fraternity including Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai, Madhur Bhandarkar, Viveck Vaswani, Tabu, Amisha Patel, Riteish Deshmukh, Suneil and Mana Shetty, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Neelam Kothari, Dino Morea, and many more. The event was also graced by the presence of Sahara supremo Subroto Roy and top brass of the Sahara conglomerate.

The venue was a perfect setting of the upper lounge of the Sahara Star with seating arrangements around water fountains, pools and two level decks that overlooked a built up stage for the evening's celebration. Sajid Khan and Viveck Vaswani were honoured early birds since the former had agreed to host the show while Vaswani had insisted on doing the honors of introducing the author to his guests. The event had an explosive beginning with a spectacular laser show and soon as host Sajid Khan worked through his script the stage was filled up with the entire star cast of the movie, director Farah Khan and the publisher Ajay Mago of Om Books International. Shah Rukh began his speech with his typical wit by assuring the people gathered that it was no marketing strategy that the publisher of the book was also named Om as in the movie OM Shanti OM. Asked by the media about author Mushtaq's statement that he could write 40,000 books on Shah Rukh, he replied that Mushtaq was being kind and it was his luck that he got to play a role in the film scripted so well by Farah Khan and Mushtaq Shiekh. In reply to the question of how Mushtaq gets access to him since the current offering was his fourth book with Shah Rukh, King Khan replied that, "Mushtaq is a friend and has been one for the past decade, he does not need to get access, he already has access to all the sources of my life." Deepika thanked Mushtaq and said that the best gift that Mushtaq has given her was to pen all the script that became her maiden movie. The event ended with the copies of the books being present and unveiled to the audience, but the party continued as the stars celebrated the success of the movie and toasted to the success of the book!
