Actor-director Manoj Kumar has managed to get himself back in the limelight following the controversy about his representation in Om Shanti Om. The veteran seems to have grabbed the occasion and has now gone ahead and announced four films.
The actor is believed to have finished scripting for four films and is believed to be ready to start work on one of them early next year. And yes, it does not take much to guess what the films is about. Like most of his other films, this one too will talk about the values of brotherhood and national integration. Talking about his fixation for patriotism, the veteran says that times may change but the concepts of national integration and brotherhood are universal. These themes are not specific to time, he believes and therefore need to be explored in cinema. The films include a yet-untitled Indo-Pak love story. The others are 'With Love From India', 'Naukrani—The Indian Maid' and 'India In America.' The titles are of course self explanatory and the actor is willing to reveal the plotline right now. However, he is realistic enough to admit that times have changed and the format of filmmaking has changed as well. He expects the casting to be a problem as he says that these days producers and directors are chasing the stars these days. The veteran also hits out at the various camps that have come up in the industry these days, which act as a deterrent to perfect casting. As for himself, he believes in casting artistes and not stars, he says. But his wish list does include Kareena Kapoor, who he says combines the qualities of Geeta Bali and Raj Kapoor and that is what he likes most about her. So for Manoj Kumar, the Om Shanti Om controversy could not have come at a better time as he is gearing up to get back to the business of making films.
