That precisely sums up Karan's attitude. For those who thought this actor, after dabbling in supporting roles and nearly-hero roles, had finished his movie tenure, Kokki was a shocker. The movie may not have become a blockbuster, but it brought us to the edges of our seats and pumped up our pulses. When we stepped out of the cinema hall, we knew Kokki was not Karan's one-time hero effort. Karan proved himself worthy of the lead role, caught some attention and the next flick was Karuppusamy Kuthagaitharar. Another commendable effort that astonished us all when it ran well, longer than the film pundits forecast. So, when Thee Nagar hit the screens, we thought it was going to be a hat-trick. Sadly, the movie went by, hardly noticed. But Karan is not one to sit aside and sulk. His next movie is all set to hit where the last one missed! In Karan's next venture, Kathavarayan, he plays an arrack seller. Obviously, he plays a protagonist with some negative shades to his character. His lead ladies are Vidhisha, who has acted in quite a few Telugu movies and Radha (of Sundara Travels fame). Kadhal Dhandapani is the reckless villain. Karan has said that the movie's theme is quite unique; he is confident that it will be well-accepted by the people! We sure hope it is! This is Salangai Durai's maiden directorial venture. He has worked as associate to veteran director-actor K. Bhagiyaraj. Karthik Raja has handled the camera and Srikanth Deva has scored the music.
